Their promising debut “Strange House” (2007) won them several great friends, among them Portishead’s Geoff Barrow and Chris Cunningham, both of whom co-produced the British group’s second record. It worked — “Primary Colours” is a highly original and gloomy take on indie rock, and was hailed 2009 album of the year by New Musical Express. Damon Albarn was so taken by the album that he invited The Horrors to appear on “Plastic Beach,” Gorillaz’ latest record. A greater music-industry honor is hard to come by. |
