A musician and composer, one of the world’s most prominent ambient artists, William Basinski has been a part of the New York avant-garde scene for a quarter of a century. The classically educated artist plays clarinet and saxophone, but also employs tape to loop and combine echos of deteriorating melodies. His artistic domain also includes video art. He has worked with Diamanda Galas and Antony & The Johnsons, and his best knows work is the four-volume album “The Disintegration Loops” (2002–2003). He will perform at the Off Festival as a part of the “Inspired by Chopin” project. |
