Drew Daniel and Martin Schmidt are a duet in constant search of new challenges in the realm of electronic music. They employ sounds generated by objects, animals, and people, and sample everything from the sound made by leafing through the Bible, to Polish trains. They’re highly educated (Daniel wrote a dissertation on the cult of Melancholy in literature) and completely nuts — they compose music for museums and galleries as well as porno flicks. Björk invited them to appear on two of her albums. They perform at our festival as a part of the “Inspired by Chopin” project. |
