Ant-Pop Consortium is probably one of the most relevant names in alternative hip-hop. Their uncompromising, stream-of-consciousness lyrics are legendary (no surprise, considering that they met at a New York City poetry slam), as are their beats, which explore territories far beyond mainstream hip-hop. They’re no more out of place playing with DJ Shadow than with Radiohead (whom they supported in 2001). They broke several years of silence in the fall of last year with the album “Fluorescent Green,” their first on Big Dada/Ninja Tune. |
